In this guide, we will learn how to setup and use ScanLister’s Ticket System: Simple Mode
The purpose of our ticket system is simply to make it easier to locate and track your merchant fulfilled inventory. Inventory comes in all shapes and sizes and having an easy to read ticket for each item can really speed up the process of locating items when it is time to ship.
Simple Mode allows you to have the benefits of the full ticketing system without the setup and overhead of using the “Advanced Mode”.
Let’s dive in!
First, I will explain the setup options in detail, but don’t worry if you miss anything. The defaults are a fine starting point. You can always make adjustments later if the need arises.
Start by going to Settings, then Tickets.
Here you will find the following options:
Print Ticket
This enables the simple ticket mode.
Prefix
This is a string that will be the beginning portion of your ticket I.D.. It can be your shelf location or anything of your choosing.
Sequence Length
This is the number of automatically generated digits that are added to the ticket prefix. To avoid the potential for duplicate tickets, we recommend setting this to 3 or higher unless you change your prefix frequently. A setting of 1 here will only produce 10 unique ticket I.D.s for a given prefix as compared to a setting of 5 which will potentially create up to 100,000 unique tickets with the same prefix.
Start at
This is the number that will be used for the first ticket in the series.
Print Preview
This setting will enable a preview window to appear before printing each ticket.
Auto Print Ticket
This setting will allow you to automatically print a ticket as you list.
EXAMPLE:
If you set your prefix to “Shelf A ” and your sequence length to 3, your resulting ticket I.D. would start at “Shelf A 001”.
Search
You can use the search feature to reference your previously listed tickets by SKU or ticket I.D.. The SKU search can be especially helpful when you need to locate the ticket for a sold item and only have the SKU.
Printer Settings
Navigate to Settings, then Printer to enable the printer that you will use for tickets. We recommend using a thermal printer with standard labels or receipt paper. We also support a smaller label format if you prefer a label sticker instead of a full sized ticket. Be sure to use the “Test Print” feature to ensure the tickets will print correctly.
Ticket Types:
Full size tickets
Many sellers find it is much easier to locate books on the shelf by looking for a standard sized ticket number across a shelf, than to try to identify the product by reading the book cover or product packaging.
Small format tickets
This is designed to fit on a standard FNSKU size label. Many sellers opt to add these to the outer spine for quick reference. Yes, you are adding a sticker to the book, but the benefit is that you never have to worry about the ticket getting misplaced.
Simple mode strategy:
Here is a powerful strategy many sellers use: You can integrate your ticket I.D. into your SKU automatically as you list. When an item sells, you will never have to worry about matching the sold product to your ticket I.D.! This makes for a simple, but very effective system for inventory management. I will demonstrate how this works in a few moments when we list our first product.
To set this up, navigate to the “SKU Pattern” section, then add a new element to your custom SKU. Select Ticket Number. I prefer to add the ticket I.D. at the end so it is easy to read.
Remember, Amazon has a limit of 40 characters for your SKU, so ensure all the selected SKU elements will not exceed this length.
Time to List!
With the Tickets, “Simple Mode” enabled, you will notice that a “shelf location” field now appears in the main listing screen. This is your ticket prefix. Each time you scan a new product, a ticket will be generated. If you have auto-print enabled, the ticket should print automatically. Alternatively, you can use the buttons on the main listing screen to manually print as needed.
Congratulations! You now know everything you need to make full use of ScanLister’s simple ticket system.
